While opening a video file, I got the message "The source file can NOT be opened".
There are many reasons can cause this error. The most common reason is that the needed codecs can't be detected. To solve the problem, you need only download and install K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is a free collection of codecs and related tools for playing all popular media formats. The latest version can be downloaded from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm or http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm. You can also get more links from Google.
Special notice for Windows 9x/ME users,
- You'd better update Windows Media Player to version 7.1 or higher and update DirectX to version 8.1 or higher at first.
- To extract mp3 from Apple Quicktime files (*.mov; *.qt), you need download and install QuickTime Alternative 1.55 for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. While intalling it, please check "QuickTime DirectShow filter". It's a free tool to help you open and play Apple quicktime files (*.mov, *.qt). You can download the latest version from http://www.free-codecs.com/QuickTime_Alternative_download.htm or get more links from Google.
